I'm moving to Ocean Beach, San Diego without a car. Do I need one there??

I know the San Diego Transportation system is great, but how is it in Ocean Beach. Will I be able to get downtown on a bus every morning?? or is there a trolley or sumthing?? I've been trying to figure it out on the SD transportation website but I'm looking for someone who knows from experience. Thanks!!

I'm disabled and use the bus and trolley system daily and it works very well for me.

The worse part is getting to a station like Old Town. Once you're there travel is easy and faster than driving. I use the Coaster and trolley's several times a week.

Hmm... you can take a bus to downtown but it will take you about a little more than an hour. A car would really be better!

YES.

No, I ride the buses everyday and they are great. Of course I'm also homeless

Well probobly...see i live in san diego, in la jolla and san diego is a very big city...i think you should buy a cheap car cause thats what you need most

I hang out in OB a lot and can tell you that , while it's possible, it's a huge pain to take the buses and the trolley. The trolley does not go to OB so you would be stuck with the bus. If you don't want a car...how about a vespa?

First, I envy you because OB is such a nice place and a lot of fun too.

I don't know if I would describe the public transportation system as great but it is not as intimidating because some of the larger cities, I may be concerned for my safety, especially riding downtown. Since SD is a big college town in general, you may see a lot of students taking the bus, not just the poor folks without cars, like in LA or something.

Trolley operates only within downtown, I believe. I am fairly certain that it doesn't go all the way to OB. You will have to take the bus and since parking is tough to find and expensive in downtown, taking the bus may not be a bad idea. Only drawback would be that since it stops like every 100 yards, it may take a while to get to your destination. I am not sure which website you are looking at but try the one below.

Whoever told you it was great is lame.

I would get a car. If not a car, a motorcycle. There is not a trolley in OB.
