Question on russian etiquette and on when the best time to visit?

in russia if i disagree with something about russia or want to give my honest opinion about something can i just say so or should i keep my opinion to myself

no ofense apologies if i have caused any i just personally dont believe it is completly democratic yet or it is turning back into a dictatorship in places

also is march/april or october a good time to visit

Don't ever say anything bad about Russia to a Russian. Even if they are saying something bad don't pile on. Keep it to yourself, believe me.

No those are bad times to visit, its wet and cold. Try May through September.

Sure, if you can back it up with facts, go ahead. However, it all depends on the person - some people want to discuss politics, while others turn completely away from it. I would make sure that you've known this person for a while and that this discussion is not happening at the dinner table.
I, personally, wouldn't recommend March/April since that's the time when the snow is melting and everything is all wet and mushy. May is much nicer, plus you can be there for Victory Day.

1. Depends on particular situation. If you will go to Russia as a tourist you probably won`t find a reason to discuss any politic points
2. Depends on the purpose of your visit and a region in the country (-s) you want to visit. The nice seasons to be in Russia are spring (may) and autumn (september).
Good luck

well, it is usually a way easier to get along with someone that you share common views with, although it is not always possible indeed. also, you've got to keep in mind that your opinion about Russia is likely to be largerly based on what you learned about it in the States and much of what you hear about Russia in the States is not true. So you may just be wrong in what you think and moreover what you say may not make a lot of sense to people over there (it is hard to explain the latter point, but you may come accross such situations). finally, it depends on who are you talking to. let me give you an example. If you tell Ann Coulter that republicans are bad for America and that she should vote democrat then she will probably shoot you right away. If you tell that same thing to, say, Michael Moore, then he will probably agree.

having all that said, everyone is entitled to holding their own (possibly wrong) opinions and as long as one expresses one's opinions politely and does not try to impose one's point of view on the other party in the argument and (ideally) keeps an open mind everything should be fine.

the best time to visit the country is during a summer.
