What do Russians think about V. Putins decision to hold Soviet Style millitary parades on Victory Day?

First of all i truly believe he has made the right decision to hold Soviet Millitary parades on may 9 th Victory Day, after all it was the Soviet Union's bravery and courage which defeated hitler and his nazis in world war 2, other wise everyone in europe would be speaking in german.( Three quarters of hitlers best troops and armour were fighting the soviets on the eastern front while a mere 200,000 german conscripts were fighitng on the western front). So do most Russians agree?

No one canceled the parades before (well they did 91-94, but that's beside the point), they just didn't have any of the heavy armored vehicles and such. There was a practical reason for this - the square was getting ruined. I don't know how they're going to avoid it now, but hopefully they've taken it into consideration.

It is one of the Best things he has done, Russian bravery and sacrifice in the Great Patriotic war should never be forgotten, and as you said, without the bravery and courage of the soviets, we would all be speaking in german.
I.m glad the Soviet Style Parades are back on , Victory Day without them makes victory look small!

Personally I absolutely agree. We lost 20+ million people in that war that took a toll on almost every family and devastated the western part of the country. The Victory Day is by all means the most important holiday for Russian people (as well for people of most other parts of the former Soviet Union) and should be celebrated accordingly. If we did not win we (along with many other countries in Europe) would not be around today.

The Soviets were just trying to save themselves they weren't helping anyone else. Unlike Americans who went to Europe to help free the people there.

Russia is not the successor state to the Soviet Union now is it? The only reason for the parades should be to honor the veterans, and for that I think Russia does a fantastic job now.
