Where is the best place to stay and go out in Rio De janeiro for singles?

ANYWHERE! Really, though, stay in Ipanema...It is cool, safer than Copacabana and it is on the beach. Everything you could want is there. You can walk anywhere you need to go. I met a few folks who stayed at the hostel there. Go to Rioforpartiers.com and get the book. You can contact Bryan at Rio Charm (the number is in the book) and he can help you rent an apartment for cheap. You can rent by the week, month whatever you want....This book will help you know where to go...and the author lives in Ipanema and you can call him - he sets up tours - you can go with him and his friends around town - even (and this is great for safety sake) outings to bars at nite. So you will be with a fun group and see what the locals know is cool and you will still be safe. Depends on if you are male or female...but just try to blend in - leave the tourist hats at home. Count on buying some of the local styles. You will love it. Just be sure to stay in Ipanema or Leblon - dont stay in Copa - it is not as safe to be hanging around...you can go there - but just be a little more aware. Chow!

I lived in Rio and Smartie is pretty much spot on. Ipanema all the way! It is probably the safest part of the city and you won't get to see alot of poverty either. I know this sound sharsh but seeing homeless children is really difficult to deal with.

If you can I would rent somewhere (a flat). Most of those places ome with housekeeping service which is quite nice.

Unfortunatley I can't tell you where to go as it has been about ten that I lived there and like any major city the scene changes very fast. If it still exists you should check out a Club called Help on the Waterfront in Copacabana. It is frequented by tourists, hookers, pimps and if you don't take all of that too seriously it is a good place to lean back and observe other people. But be warned of thiefs and of very high prices for anyting but beer

It's better for you stay at Copacabana Beach, Leblon, Ipanema....there is a pretty good restauranbt caller "La Fiorentina" veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery wondeful.... but don't go just to Rio,come to Minas Gerais too, I live here and I'm sure you'll like it a lot The cities Ouro Preto, Mariana, Diamatina and others are really beutiful and usually has many parties, our country is very beautiful. Foreigners usually know just Rio and S茫o Paulo I think you should search about more places inside.....you will enjoy it a lot!!!!!

the best place to meet women is on the beach and at the shooping mall. dont go to those seedy strip bars. those girls are dirty and can have diseases. i dont know if your a guy or girl so i guess my answer could go for both. my wife is from cuiaba brazil. i met here in rio years ago when i was vacationing with my family. brazilian women are the most beautiful of the world and are not like snooty american women.
