Grenoble, France?

Ever been there? Or know anything interesting about it? Like best places to shop, eat, see, do...? Any tips at all...

My son lives there....
There are excellent places to eat in the city and near it.
The restaurants around the main squares such as Place Grenette, which are pedestrian areas are fairly good. If you like Tex-Mex there is even one of those near the riverbank on the side where the Bastille is
To visit...The Bastille which you reach by going up in the "Boules". The views of the city are fantastic up there!
The whole pedestrian center of the town is quite lovely and enjoyable to walk in...

My son lives across the river in Sassenage - Fontaine.
There are some nice restaurants near the Mairie (Town Hall) of Sassenage.
One is called "Wok's"...and has international cuisine to choose from.
The other I remember is "Au Feu du Bois", we went there for dinner one evening and had an excellent meal!
And we stayed in a small hotel in that area "Le Relais de Sassenage" nice, simple little hotel with a charming restaurant and good menus.
As to shopping...the best shops are also in the pedestrian area in the center of town.
If you have time, go visit the town of Voiron where the monks make the famous Chartreuse liquor, its just a 20 minute drive west (autoroute towards Lyon).
drive to VIZILLE (10 minutes south of Grenoble) and visit the magnificent chateau where you will find the museum of the French Revolution...very interesting.
If you have even more time leave Vizille and drive up to CORPS on the Route Napol茅on. There is a small hotel near the top of the mountain on the road to La Salette... The food in their restaurant is one of the most exquisite I've ever had... The views of the Lac du Sautet, and the Obiou mountain are breathtaking. I don't know when you are going to travel... (Boustigue is a summer hotel open from mid april to mid october).
There are also many ski resorts nearby to choose from...
L'Is猫re is an area of France you will want to return to!

I am french and I live in Grenoble. This is a very pleasant place to live in! It is not as big as Lyon or Marseille. There are a lot of good shops, pubs, people are very friendly! If you have the opportunity to come here, do not hesitate and come to the "Capitale des Alpes" enjoy one of the best city in France :-)

I didn't spend a lot of time there, but what I saw of the city didn't make me feel it was a very pleasant place. However, the town isn't far away from the many nice ski resorts you can see in the Alps.

Hi from France ! I live about an hour from Grenoble.
When you get there, do go to the Tourism Board and they will tell you exactly (in english) what you are askingand looking for !
Good luck !

Have a look at this link http://isere.c-lafrance.com/ to get some clues on Grenoble and the whole "Region".

Great place to work and enjoying at the same time the Alps (ski, mountain, ..)
