Hi! I am going to New Zealand for a year what kind of visa do I need and how do I get it? Please help!?

I already have a job and now I just need to know how to get over there. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

I am from the U.S. and I have a job as an au pair. This is my first time traveling out of the country so I am a little confused. I see that with a working holiday visa you can only stay with one employer for 3 months. What would happen if the family sponsored me? Would that be a better option?

Thanks for all your help!

Depends - what country are you coming from...?

Hope those sites will help you.

K Bear gave you lots of good web links -

If you already have a job in NZ
then your prospective employer can help
by furnishing proof of employment
and taking care of some of the preliminary paperwork.

Unless you already have a work visa, when you arrive in NZ,

Customs will only issue you a visitor's visa -
for 3, or for 6 months depending on your citizenship.

If you are an Australian citizen
then that's something altogether different.

There will be a fee for your work visa,
depending on your citizenship.

Get the place you are going to be working to do the groundwork for you.

Check out the immigration site, and
good luck

=)

To be honest, as you are an American citizen, i think you should just apply for the Working Holiday Visa and not worry about the other stuff. by the way, i think as a condition of the WHV you aren't supposed to have a job arranged. So you may have to simply say you are applying for causal work. Not mention your arranged job.
