As KIWI麓s what is your opinion of Queenstown?

Is it in nowhere land? With no big towns or citys around for hours??? Have you ever been there? What are the people like, friendly?

Queenstown is not really a town for Kiwis (local New Zealand people). It is really only for the tourists to visit - so if you are a tourist you will like it all right. There are lots of souvenir shops, places to eat and tourist activities like bungy jumping, jet boat rides and that kind of thing. In winter there is alot of ski-ing nearby. It has beautiful scenery all around of hills and mountains. It is several hours to the nearest cities, but it has everything there in Queenstown that a tourist would need. If you are going there to live and work and be a local, it would be very expensive though for a place to live and food and ordinary things. Here are some websites:

I've only been to Queenstown once, for work. I thought it was pretty nice, the landscapes are beautiful in the area. I however thought it was a bit overrated, it is after all geared towards tourists (I preferred Wanaka to be honest). If you like extreme sports you must go there, the bungy jump is great, so is the shotover jet. The people were nice, just like everywhere else I guess :)
