In july and july is the milford track accesible or is it blocked off by snow in the higher sections?

basically are the mountain sections accessible or are they blocked off by snow and ice

DOC (Department of Conservation), close the park when they think conditions are dangerous. The altitude is very high, so snow and ice will be present even in the summer months.

I wouldn't hold my breath. There are many other walks in the area you could do. Such as Rainbow Reach (Manapouri), Some of the Keplar track etc....

There are many other activties in Milford to do, the snow just makes it more beautiful!

Not sure but these sites will give you all the helpful information on the Milford Track

I was there in ealy december and you could see huge piles of ice in patches up on the cliffs. There was one big frozen clump of ice beside the road (it looked permanent). If that was the beginning of summer, I guess there could be snow everywhere in june/ July. But when we were there, they didn't mention that it was closed in the winter. You probably need to take snow hiking gear.

Yep!
It can be closed.
Google it on a day-by-day basis to find out current conditions.

Do you want to do a guided trek or solo. Let me know by email or IM. I've asked a friend who is a really experienced trekker out of Christchurch, what you've asked so far. I'll email you his reply ... if he's back at home. He could be out in the hills somewhere lol
