Where in Puerto Vallarta is a good cell phone shop to buy SIM card?

Buy a phone from the beach vendors.

You have a choice of either Telcel or Movistar. And even though you will be able to make calls immediately with one of these (at $2 per minute to the US and 60 cents per min for local calls) if you have an unlocked phone from the US, you won't be able to get any calls until you complete the registration process which is all in Spanish and takes a week to get processed. Also, without use, in a month the SIMs get deactivated, so there's no re-using it again.

A way better solution is to get a rental cell from mexitel cellular. They have pre-registered phones which only cost between 32 and 62 cents per min to call the US and possibly much less ($1 for 20 minutes) if they happen to have a PV phone they can send you for the time you are going.
