I'm planning a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in May with my boyfriend. Any suggestions on what to do?

I've been looking online and all of the websites say the same stuff - the beach, scuba diving, snorkling, stuff like that. Is there anything culturally we can do too? Like old churches, ruins, etc. Any other stuff that's cool to see or do there? We're going for 7 days and I don't wanna spend ALL that time at the beach.

1) Try the rip cord canopy tour
2) Hourse back riding- either on the beach or when i went we went up into a mountain - very special
3) Try staying in a villa possible way more privacey and fun - when i went to PV my favorite part was the villa i stayed in
4) Deep sea fishing - or just a bout tour - or possible rent a boat
5) Just walking the streets in town is fun
6) there is an old church, in town which is very pretty

-the boat trip to the island of yelapa ( might be spelt wrong ) is amazing! on yelapa you can swim, eat, tan, go on a banana boat ride ( really fun, dont let go ).
-There is also a restaurant on a strip by the ocean.. carlos o brians but it is a really amazing place - lots of music, dancing, basically a party atmosphere.
-we stayed at the Plaza Pel铆canos - really amazing hotel.
-marina vallerta
- the board walk
- parish church
-huichol museum
-take a walk along the cuale river

cruise to the near by islands!!!!

excuse my poor english, im from mexico, and i can suggest some things to do in vallarta.

the downtown its a beautyful place to have a ride , walk in the colonial streets and eat in someone restaurant, recomend one just front in the maleco, called la dolce vita, its a good place to eat italian food and see the beach from the second floor..

in the marina have a variety of rides, in the mornig recomend take a ride to the closer beaches, have horse rides , snorkeling and whales search, its a great experience

and in the night recomend de ride in the galeon maricagalante, its a old navy from the last century, and have in the night a pirates show, open bar and buffete, i like this ride, recomend visit the page http://www.marigalante.com.mx and see

if you like the local restaurants and the mariscos, i recommend go to "the mauricios", its a local restaurant, you cant take a taxi, all taxi drivers know this place

and other tours like the canopy, o just rent a buggye in the downtown, its ok, you can go to other beaches.. and places. search in yahoo pictures for this matches, "sayulita" "guayabitos" "punta mita" "boca de tomatlan"
