Where should I stay afternoon & overnight in late June on the Cote D'azur near Nice with a 6 year old?

I will be travelling by car from SW France and stopping halfway to my destination in central Italy near end of June 2007. I am looking for a stop over, arriving around 3 PM to unwind with wife and 6 year old (so it is not too much of a "driving" day). A nice little hotel or B&B (max 125 euros) with own shower and toilet, a beach, a nice walk, a place for a pleasant dinner. Recommendations I've received include Villefranche sur Mer and the Hotel Welcome there (from TripAdvisor) but the beach looks minimal and along the train tracks. Consideration is a pet allergy in the family.

Any ideas? Place, hotel, activities, restaurant, other?

Thank you very much

hello ! i'm french and i come from french riviera
i think you should try to find a hotel in Beaulieu-sur-mer it's very calm and pretty!
in villefranche try "la fianc茅e du pirate" a very nice hotel with swimming pool and beautiful view for around 95鈧?night
in Nice, l'hotel de la tour ,in the old town is very very good!!
good luck cause it's not easy to find a hotel on the Riviera in august!!

Villefranche is very pretty, but also expensive and for sure your 6-year-old would be bored! I would recommend Menton, just a little further down the coast. It has a nice wide beach, a beautiful old town, lots of restaurants, and for the Riviera is pretty untouristed.

One of my favourite travel sites for Bed and Breakfasts

maybe u can try Mandelieu de la Napoule near Cannes.A very nice small town with a sand beach and an old castle. The rest of the Cote D'Azur is full of stone beaches. Some nice places to stay overnight might be St.Jean Cap Ferrat or Beaulieu sur Mer.But I recommend u Mandelieu.
Have a nice vacation.
