Who goes to Menton in the summer?

I am in Canada now...-20c...I am dreaming of the Beach at Hotel Napoleon...looking over to the St. Michel church up on that hill.

Going in August!

I have been there once. Went across into Italy for a day as well. (to St. Remos, I think the town was called.) Have traveled quite a bit in other regions of France as well. We lived in the Alps for a while and also in the Paris region (Ile de France), so have learned to love and appreciate the unique qualities and cultures of France.
I have good friends who go to Cannes pretty much every August. Say "Hi" to them if you happen to see them down in the area this year :) Not sure if they are going this year, though.
Ps. I am a proud Canadian, so know what you mean by the cold weather. Where I live now though, it is in the mid 30's today with high humidity. We would love to have just a few days in the snow and cold to recuperate from a long hot summer.
Have fun in Menton this summer! I know you will!

Well, it will be warmer than -20 degrees. In August, you'll be there with all those French ppl on vacation. Menton is good if you are looking for a little village and a beach. A good place to relax, but imho if one is going to fly all the way to France, one should be in a bigger city (Nice is close by) and see all the museums, shops, and sights. You can still see plenty of beaches in Nice. But you sound like you really want to see Menton, so have a great time.
