Any longtime Hillsboro Oregon resdesents care to tell me what was before the Sunset esplanade?

I need someone who has been living in Hillsboro Oregon Before the mid 1980s. what was in the spot where the Sunset esplanade is. I heard it was a filed from one person and a wetland from another. There are always seaguls hanging out near and on targets roof.

I know the shopping center was bulit in 1989.

I've lived here my whole life.

It was farmland. The wetland was preserved behind it.

I was only a wee child in 1989 when I lived there, so I don't remember too well.

But judging on the wetlands that are behind and to the east of the esplanade, I would venture to say it was wetlands, or possibly part wetland part field.
