I am considering moving to portland, and would like some ideas of places to live and places to hang out? |
ie; bars, areas, good neigborhoods, neighborhoods i should stay away from, arts area, places to spend time check out the hawthorne and hollywood disticts as well Stay away from Vancouver and Beaverton unless you are wanting to live in the Suburbs. Northwest is nice, Pearl District, Alberta (arts district), North Mississippi. As far as bars - heres the best website (they have a mgazine too) The Brooklyn neighborhood is close to downtown and still affordable. I lived in Portland for almost 20 years! I lived in one house from the time I was born and that was in NE Portland near the Gateway Shopping Center. It's a really great neighborhood, and I also spent a lot of time in various other parts of the city. North Portland typically has the most problems as far as crime, and some places downtown can also be dangerous. I found when it comes to shopping/hanging out/bars downtown is really the best place to be! Mississippi area and Alberta arts district are both great as well as St John's area. Really though every neighborhood in Portland has something special and supports the arts. They all have cool places to eat and drink and hang out. You will really need to explore a little and find the neighborhood that best fits for you. You will find somewhere that just feels right |
