How much is a taxi from PDX (Portland, OR airport) to downtown Portland?

I'm condisering a cab, but wondering if a car service is the same or about the same cost??? Car service is $45ish.

It depends on the time of day, during off peak hours the least it could go is $40 plus tip, it could reach up to $80 during peak hours.

I recommend taking the MAX train. Its only $2-3. Its quick and will take you directly to downtown portland. From there on you can take the bus within the Fareless Square area to whereever you please, fareless means its free under that area.

Taxis are expensive in Portland. I paid over $50.00.

A Taxi there charges by the mile and by time. Hope you don't hit traffic.

I'd suggest taking the Max if you can. It's only a couple of bucks and it'll take you right downtown.

Are you visiting and staying in a downtown motel? If so they will probably have a van that will transport you from PDX to the motel for free. Otherwise I'd ride MAX, cheap and interesting and way faster than a taxi. When you are downtown there is an area called "fare-less square" in which MAX and the bus are free otherwise it's still very low priced.

Seriously, there is no reason to take a taxi between the Portland Airport (PDX) and downtown Portland. The MAX light rail line provides a train directly between the airport & downtown every 15 minutes and costs only $2.05 each way and includes a transfer to use on other bus/transit lines in the area. The train is very safe and is actually quicker than any other form of transportation. A taxi would be a waste of money in this case as would the various shuttles. Good Luck!
