Portland OR This weekend?

I am going to Portland this weekend for the first time. Is there anything cool going on? Anything that I just have to see? Anyone want to grab a beer?

Oh, there is a whole ton of things to do in Portland. One of the many reasons I moved here.
Powell's Book Store (world's biggest book store, it's a whole city block and has three stories)
Chinese Gardens (they've got something going on for Chinese New Year)
Rose Gardens & Japanese Gardens (they're both next to each other, however, I don't know what they're like in the winter)
McMenamins (for beer) There is a place called the Crystal Ballroom in town, but all McMenamis (it's a "chain" so to speak) are really good. I recommend Fish and Chips or Communication Breakdown Burger.
There are also a lot of museums worth checking out.

And, yes, Oregon is still sales tax free.

I love Portland... I wish I was there this weekend.

you should check out the malls in portland there is no tax last time I went which was 3 years ago

If you're interested in art, the Portland Art Museum exhibition "The Dancer: Degas, Forain, and Toulouse-Lautrec" just started last weekend. Here's a review from the Oregonian: http://www.oregonlive.com/entertainment/...

The Portland International Film Festival is on for the next few weeks (2/7-2/23), as well, with a lot of great foreign films, plus Gus Van Sant's new film "Paranoid Park". Check http://www.nwfilm.org for more info.

You can find listings for all the bands and djs playing live this weekend at portlandmercury.com or wweek.com.

That's just a start....have fun!
