Portland/Vancouver vs. Missoula Montana?

I'm considering moving to Portland, mostly for personal issues. But I was wondering if anyone had lived in or visited both areas, which did you prefer, and why? Am I missing out on anything by staying in Missoula? Or is Portland a bad idea? Just want to know some pros and cons for both places. Thanks.

my neighbors are from montana, there moving back next month after being here for 6 months, if that helps you any.

You are missing out on a lot by staying in Montana. You are so sheltered from experiencing a lot outside of white, rural America. Leave ASAP!!

Missoula is actually a cool, liberal minded little town, but it is still Montana, it's cold as hell in the winter, and it's far from big cities, the ocean...Portland is awesome, it's a big city, but doesn't seem like it, and it's only a few hours to the ocean. They are similar in amny ways, as far as the type of people migrating toward them, but Portland just has more opportunities. If you do go to Portland, South East and parts of North East and really great places to live, less expensive than the west.

Portland is an awesome place and many of the people i met there were very hip. I was there for a few days and felt that it had a awesome vibe. I wanted to live there pretty bad but realized it was too dar from me! Montana is super awesome if you are looking chill! The land there is unreal!
