Jefferson is a city located in Marion County, Oregon. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,487.

Jefferson is located at 44掳43'5" North, 123掳0'34" West (44.718012, -123.009417).

According to the US Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.9 km2 (0.8 mi2). 1.9 km2 (0.7 mi2) of it is land and 1.33% is water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 2,487 people, 817 households, and 643 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,315.4/km2 (3,389.3/mi2). There are 885 housing units at an average density of 468.1/km2 (1,206.1/mi2). The racial makeup of the city is 81.83% White, 0.36% African American, 1.89% Native American, 0.76% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 11.66% from other races, and 3.46% from two or more races. 20.67% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 817 households out of which 48.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.6% are married couples living together, 15.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.2% are non-families. 16.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.04 and the average family size is 3.34.

In the city the population is spread out with 34.2% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 7.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 99.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.7 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $40,938, and the median income for a family is $42,647. Males have a median income of $31,196 versus $25,417 for females. The per capita income for the city is $15,426. 16.2% of the population and 12.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 19.6% of those under the age of 18 and 4.2% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

Pretty much. It's out between Harrisburg and Scio, southeast of Salem, and south of Stayton. Turner isn't that far away, either.

Jefferson, Oregon is a small town between Salem and Albany Oregon. It's also a very old town and was established in the late 1840's or early 1850's - before Oregon was a state. It's primarily a farming community and farmers grow lawn seed and peppermint.
