Portland OR bus and Trimet system...I heard it is GREAT! What makes it so?

What makes it so great?
Is it fast?
Do tell!
Thanks!

It works because of the road network. Basically, the busses go on almost every major road and light rail go on a couple. With a lot of cities, the road network is such a mess that the busses can't serve everywhere. It's faster than some cities, but it's definitely slower than going by car. One thing that pisses me off is the trains are physically able to go 55mph but in most places they go a lot slower for various reasons (like to match the car speed limit). If you want to save the Earth and some money, definitely give it a try.

you can get anywhere in the portland metro area for a couple bucks.

The train is FREE anywhere downtown. As for the buses they are pretty good. Not all that many stops, on time for the most part.

It's convenient and accesible.

Some services are faster than the others. Usually the difference between buses range from 5 minutes to an hour(but the 1 hour difference is pretty rare since usually theres a bus stop of a different number close by but you just walk a block or two).

Fareless square begins from PGE MAX station to Lloyd Center mall and in between including buses and street cars. You dont pay any fare if your going anywhere in between those two border stops.

Accesible stops, PGE, close by to PSU, stops at Downtown Portland, airport, convention center, Expo center, Rose Garden, Oregon Zoo and much more.
