I will be visiting Portland, Maine in May. What is the weather like? Is it an easy town for driving around in?

Also has anyone stayed at the "Inn at St. John"

May my dear is mud season here in Maine:) LOL... It wont effect you being in Portland tho. May is a nice time of year seadog has it with the rain its a hit or miss and yes as they all said bring a jacket.
I think you will love the oldport it really is great, and again with what seadog said you may want to park and walk. The parking, traffic, and oneway streets are enough to make you want to walk:)
Have fun and enjoy some of our yummy lobstah

weather should be decent in may, maybe not beach weather but you'll be comfortable, maybe a light jacket for the nighttime ----very easy to drive around in, its quite small so you wont get lost

The weather should be OK. It will be spring like taht time of year. The Inn at St John is an OK place although it is quite a walk to the Old Port where most of the shopping & restaurants are. It is in an area that is a little on the edge, nicewise. The city is very driveable .

The weather should be warmer by then, but I would definitely bring a coat, hopefully you'll get a time when it's not raining. The only part of driving in Portland that could be confusing is the Old Port area, but you can just park somewhere and walk around. I haven't stayed at the Inn at St. John, it looks nice but that's not the best neighborhood to be in at night. On the plus side, you'll walking distance from Hadlock field if you want to see a minor league baseball game with all the Red Sox up and and comers.
