English food in Portland Oregon?

Visiting Portland this weekend and would like to know if there is any English Pubs, places to eat, or stores that sell English Food.

I much prefer the Moon and Sixpence over Horse Brass.

The food at Horse Brass just doesn't measure up. It's like bar food, which is quite different than pub food---and not even very good bar food at that. The pasties and pies leave a lot to be desired (dry, overcooked, not tasty, not English), so that leaves you pretty much with a few choices of negligently cooked sausages (mash is only available on occasion, with "specials") or lazily created poor examples of American food like salad, plain sandwiches, and burgers. The pricing is bizarre and the atmosphere stinks. Were it my choice, I would never eat there again. I said that after my first visit, and although circumstances have forced me to go a few more times, I have not changed my opinion.
However, they do serve traditional English breakfast (fry ups) on the weekends, which I've never sampled. Be sure to get there before 11am if you want that, even though they claim to serve until "around noon." Same goes for eating there late, or you'll end up paying five bucks for an apple and cheese to avoid going hungry because the kitchen has decided to close.

At Moon and Sixpence, the fish and chips are amazing, the pies are tasty (though I would stick a few veg in a couple, even if it's not as English), and they have the best bread pudding I've ever had in my life. Oh, everything is so delicious. Just thinking about it makes me want to go!

If you're open to a Scottish pub, the Rose and Thistle is okay. Understand I only recommend it as an alternative to Horse Brass---Moon and Sixpence is tops, in my book. Rose and Thistle might be the worst in the ambience department as well. I feel like it's too brightly lit, and a lot of the seating is uncomfortable (benches for large tables). But they have decent food, and my friend's Scottish husband really likes it.

If you're on your way to Moon and Sixpence, as I hope you will be, be aware it's a bit hard to see. Not hard to find, but hard to see, especially in the dark. I've met friends there and had to have them come outside the door so I could find it again. We've even had taxis not be able to find us. It's not like it's in a desolate area, it's just on an unusually nondescript street, so you think it's just about so far, but can't see it, then you think you've passed it, but you haven't, but then you don't notice when you do. (Hint: It's south of the small cosmetology school.) Also, be careful you don't go for a relaxing dinner on a night of lively music. The music is always fun, but if you're not prepared for it, the crowd and the conversation buzz over energetic music can be a bit overwhelming.

Further warnings: all these establishments allow smoking. That means it will most likely be smoky inside. Sorry. There's also a high incidence of having to wave your hand in the air to get a server's attention, even if that's something you'd usually never do. It's either that or go up and get them. Moon and Sixpence still comes out ahead because at least the servers are jovial when you wave or tap them, and somehow it doesn't seem as smoky to me.

The Horsebrass pub is your best choice. There is a small import store called Belmont Station off to the west of the pub that specializes solely in food items and beverages imported from Europe.

For sure the Horse Brass.

Horse Brass has good Bar food there are plenty of pubs up and down SE Hawthorne that have English type bar food, check it out.
