Seaside, Oregon...what can you tell me about it? Anyone live there? Nice place to live?

Seaside, Oregon...what can you tell me about it? Anyone live there? Nice place to live?

Seaside is the Coney Island of Oregon, and not in a good way. There is more white trash per capita there on your basic summer day, and the winters are just dull and grey. The town's infrastructure is good-ol boy, and they can't pass any levies to improve the community college there. There is virtually no actual culture, despite the fact that other towns on the coast have beautiful art museums and theater companies.

It has a good school system K-12, but that is by far the best thing it has going for it. The outlet mall isn't bad either, but stores keep leaving there in droves!!

I would rather move to Astoria given a choice. Anywhere from Astoria to Cannon Beach has the same school district without the white trash element.

Seaside is quaint and cute on the outside, but if you want to move there, go to walk through the library, community college, and high school before you decide.

Not much to do in the wintertime becuase all the tourist or the people from Portland suburbs aren't going to come rushing to Seaside. Don't get me wrong it's a gorgeous place to visit, I just don't think it's very exciting place to live the whole year in. There are a few outlet stores there as well. Best bet is just to move to a Portland suburb you're not that far from Seaside and if you want to go the mountains you're not that far either from Portland.
