Visiting some relatives in Klamath Falls this weekend and going to Crater Lake National Park.?

I understand the weather can be a wildcard at Crater Lake. We're going this Friday for the day weather permitting. Has anyone ever been there around Christmas time, and if so, what can I expect to see??? What can we do in one day ??? I'm very interested.

Crater Lake is beautiful! They can get up to 44 feet of snow over the winter. Traveling in December is iffy to say the least. Check out the link below to get up to date info on this National Park. http://www.nps.gov/crla/

The park is always open, but many of the roads and facilities are closed during the winter.

Visitor Centers

Steel Visitor Center - Open early April through early November, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, daily. Winter hours are early November through early April, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, daily except December 25th.

Rim Visitor Center - Open early June through late September, 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM, daily. Closed October through May.

Klamath Falls is a fun little town as well. Be sure to check out hotel rates at http://www.thetravelvision.com. The Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites is a good choice, with indoor swimming pool and deluxe continental breakfast bar in the morning.

You can not get into the park this time of year. There is too much snow. They do now plow the roads into the Park in the winter.

You picked the wrong time of year. Like other people said, the road to the rim is closed in the winter. I won't know if you're allow to ski or snowshoe in. Save the trip for a summer.
