Live in Portland for a month?

I would like to live in Portland for at least one month this summer. Are there a lot of seasonal jobs, is it easy to find a room mate. Any other information you have would be great. Thank you.

Yes, there does seem to be a fair share of seasonal jobs in the area, many country clubs, summer camps, etc. I would recommend the weekly newspaper, THE WILLAMETTE WEEK for info on the local 'short term' jobs and roomates. The Portland area has two mass transit systems, Tri Met(bus), and there is a light rail service - MAXX. Portland is a very friendly town, with lots going on!. The Oregonian newspaper is a good resource, but, Willamette Week is geared for a bit younger crowd in my opinion. The local television stations, KGW, KPTV, KOIN, all have very informative websites. Willamette is pronounced (will-Lam-met). That is the name of the river that Portland is built alongside, and it runs south from the Columbia River thru the Willamette Valley to Corvallis, It is beautiful country, but we get ALOT of rain!. July, August, and September, are the driest. Good Luck!, Let me know if you have any further questions. Sincerely...

I used to live in Portland Oregon I know it very well. There are many jobs are out there .Some of it will depend on how much money you want what kind of job how old you are ect. Yes you can share a house or an apartment, can look in the Oregonian news papper .Would help if you had a car .If you want more details email me, I do have a friend who sometimes rents a room or 2, but need a car to the house.

Only a month? Chat up people on the net or friends that are out there. I'm sure someone would be willing to let you crash on their couch for that short bit of time.

Hit Craigslist too for the room share and all.
You`ll easily find a job during the summer! What are you looking for anyway?

Portland summers are absolutely beautiful. I love Portland in the summer, and I have been to quite a few places.

We can have heat spells, but generally our summers are in the 80's and dry.

If you are living here for a month, live either in the Pearl, NW 23rd area, or downtown. You won't need a car if you live in the downtown/uptown area. It is very urban, and everything you need is right there. I spent 7 years in downtown, and loved every minute of it. I still live close to downtown.

There are also some really cool Eastside neighborhoods to check out.

There are lots of good restaurants, the river, great microbrews and wine, and a great music scene.

Make friends with someon who has a boat, and go boating.

For live music, check out the Doug Fir (www.dougfirlounge.com)

For roommates, check out www.craigslist.com

For jobs, I have never tried to get a seasonal job, but there are tons of coffee shops and cafes, so I imagine that barista and waitress jobs should be available?

Go to craigslist to find a room. There are people who rent furnished rooms to college students, so during the summer they may have available space.

Sign up with every temp service you can find.
