Who discovered the oregon trail?

Lewis and Clark didn't actually use the same route as the pioneers on the Oregon Trail.

It was the early fur traders and adventurers, called mountain men, that explored the west. Mountain men such as August Choteau, James Bridger, and Kit Carson. In the early 1800's Jedediah Smith was considered to be the man who knew the most about the American west. These men knew where there was water and grass for livestock. They also knew the passes through the mountains where it was easiest for wagons to travel.

No one, it was always there.

No one "dicovered" the Oregon Trail. Americans who wanted to travel West from the New England states CREATED the Oregon Trail.
