Can you go from Krakow to Zakopane in a day?

Is it possible to get from Krakow to the Zakopane mountains in just a day and for it to still be worthwhile? If so, can anyone recommend the best way to travel using public transport? Thank you.

If you wish to do it then as others say go by private bus (if you are brave enough) as they go a lot faster than the train, which just tootles along at a very slow pace.

Getting from Krakow to Zakopane

To get from Krakow to Zakopane is probably easiest by bus, with buses leaving hourly from Krakow central bus station, with journey times of approx 1.5 hours. Simply turn up at the bus station (located next door to the main railway station) and look for the appropriate bus stop advertising Zakopane, pay the driver and off you go. This is a well trodden route, and inexpensive (approx 12 pln or 3 Euros). The buses do get busy during high season however.

But to do this in one day "quote, still be worthwhile" will be pushing it.

Yes its very easy. You take the bus from next to the train station. It takes about 2 hrs each way. The train takes about 3 hrs and is not very frequent.

Yes, you can; well worth the trip.

indeed you can, but it would be even nicer to linger in the mountains for at least a couple of days

yes you can it will take you six hours on the bus

I'm pretty sure it takes around 4 to 5 hours on a train because of all the stops and hills it comes across. 6 hours by bus is ridiculous, it would be more like 3 to 4 especially f you are traveling on the highway. if i were you i would take a bus, its probably the faster and more comfortable way to travel there. Depending on the train you could probably get there easier, if you take a train to Zakopane, you are probably will be dropped on in the cities core, which will be close to everything. So either way works, you just have to decide which one is most cost effective. Also be aware that buses also stop in cities so in some cases a train might be faster

Basically its a coin toss

it takes an hour. certainly can. u can go there by bus and on donkey :) no, just kiddin ;p

yup...

of course you can! you can go through a whole country in one day...

Yes they are not that for away. Take the goo old bus.
