I will be spending a few days in Gdansk, Poland in May on vacation. Can anyone recommend a good hotel?

I'd like a hotel on the water, but also within walking distance of fun things to do. I understand that there are three regions in Gdansk, but not sure what each is like. Recommendations on hotels or things to do?

The "3 regions" are in fact 3 cities next to each other: Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot. Gdansk has a lot to see, Sopot is a charming place. Gdynia is a port.
The market square in Gdansk is full with bars, restaurants, etc. Sopot is famous for it's "molo" -pier.
