Teaching English In Poland?

I am considering goin to poland for a few weeks during summer to teach english. has anybody had any experience of something similar, and any advice on poland itself? Thanks

I have been teaching in Poland for seven years now and you will be coming at the wrong time of year, as most, if not all of the schools will be closed in the summer as it is the summer holidays.
But you could try some private schools, but the competition will be very stiff as there is little work in the summer.
You will not be able to teach in a state school as you will need a University degree to work there, although I have heard on the very rare occasion you will be able to find work as a conversational teacher, but you need to know people to get this position.
One option that maybe available to you is to work in one of the summer camps that offer English lessons as well to children and young adults, but you will have to prove that you have a good knowledge of English, with some academic background, as again the competition is very stiff.
If you want me to help you anymore then send me a email through my profile and I will see what I can do.
You could also visit www.polishforums.com and ask there :O)

The local beer will blow your brains. Cracow is nice and friendly.

I was born Poland....that will be a nice experience. Try to find a place near the mountains to teach...it's beautiful there!!! =)

Go to this site - www.eslcafe.com. Under stuff for teachers you can find the international job forum - look for Poland. The site is clean. You can register to ask your own questions, but read the old posts first. I found it very useful and most ESL teachers do as well.

yup
like everyone from my mom's side of the family teaches english in Poland. It's great!!! Don't worry the people are nice and some advice is learn to drink a couple of beers without passing out ha ha jk!!!! Just know that Polish people are not all drunks, just really friendly people where family comes first and we like to have a great time!!

i agree with all the people before me

do you want to teach kids, teenagers or adults??

almost every school in poland have the same teaching program its really bad all they teahc is grammar i was born in poland and last time i was in polish school it was really not helping me communicating here in US they wil lteach you all about grammar and nothign about communicating with others
in my last school year in gimnasium ( which is like 7th grade junior high school) i lear all about times present perferct v,continouse, past etc ... and i got all messed up
but it was also helpfull somehow to know what other are talking about and communicating with other even if i dindt know english very good i still communicate with them somehow

We Polish people in Poland learn English as in British accent. Americans teaching English in Poland will suck because Polish people don't like Americans.
