How did you get a Car in Communist Poland?

I know you didn't go to the dealer like you do in Capitalist nations.

when Poland was a communist country, many years ago, not many people had cars. you had to wait in line for everything like washing machines and stuff like that. and there were tickets for certain things, so for example someone got a fridge but didnt get a washing machine. most cars came from russia or other communist countries and they were mostly for the upper class.

Not much need.
Public transportation and taxis were ample, and cheaper.
No financing available, cash only.

Even airfare and cruise ships were cheap, subsidized by Russia.
Price controls were in effect on everything. Lots of shortages and very expensive imports.
Coal miners earned $40.00 per week.

sure but poland is longer communist since 1991 or so
it is a democracy should be no trouble getting a car in poland

You needed to get permission to buy one and (like here) also be able to buy one... Usually, only Party members were allowed such priviledges.
