Polish zloty question?

In poland, when you have 1,200 zlotys, is that considered alot back in Poland?

No, it's not. I live here in Poland.

It's 1/2 the monthly salary of most beginning school teachers and it is also the cost of 1/2 months rent on a small flat in Krakow.

It is the cost of a small computer monitor or about half the price of a lower-quality Whirlpool frontloading washing machine.

And also the price you pay to rent a 4 door Toyota hatchback for a month--minus the cost of gas (which works out to about $8 per gallon here).

It is still considered a lot money here in the sense that there are many people here who make that much in a month, working fulltime, but it's also not a lot, in the sense that the buying power of that amount of money isn't very strong.

This amount of money is what I pay here, for food, monthly, for my family of 3.

greaser, I don't understand your question as you sent me a email asking for the worth in the II world war

Subject: the zloty question..?

Message: I just needed to know if it was a lot back in Poland through WW2.
I sent you the answer the same here, confused!!! Report It

a little bit,i know alot of polish people and they got that zloty stuff,it aint alot, but its a good amount

Not any more - they are in the process of switching to the Euro. It's approx. 1zl = 0.27 euro.

It depends when you're talking about also - during the communist reign the zloty was inflated, however in recent years it was about 3zl = $1CDN

to the poster above me - the euro in Poland is years away still

and about the 1,200 zloty... depends on what you mean... if its a monthly sallary, than no, its not so much (1.5 - 2k per month, although many people make less and get by). if its just 1,200 spending cash, than yeah its a lot.

I live in Poland and many families survive on that and less per month, god knows how though.

Let me try and put it in perspective for you:
In Poland this would get you a basic computer.
You would be able to get two cheap suits for this money.
This would pay my rent on friends apartment for a month, including bills, but only just.
This would fill my car up with petrol six times.
I earn over ten times this in Poland.

To live on this in Poland would be very difficult.
If you are talking about the World war II then 1,200zl would be very much the same as it is today. After speaking to my wife's Grandmother she said her husband used to sell handmade workingman's shoes for 40zl (40.00 PLN=16.6281 CAD), which is roughly about the same as it is now, give or take 20zl.

if that is a monthly salary then not if its weekly then it is
many polish families struggle with money
many survive for that or less

Its not a lot of money is almost $400

no
