Who said that "Poland can be swallowed but not digested?"?

Who said somthing to the extent that Poland or the Polish people can be swallowed (invaded) but not digested % ted or lose their identity)? What famous Pole said this?

EDIT: This is the qoute "If you can't prevent being swallowed, then at least make sure they don't digest you?" I still don't know who the person was.
