Hello :-) I want to make a money transfer to Poland. What is the best way of doing this?

I have booked accommodation in Zakopane and I need to make a deposit to the owner's bank account in order to secure the booking. What is the cheapest and most secure way of doing this? Is it through my bank account or through the post? Is it better to pay in pounds or zloty? What is the commission that they usually keep?

Many thanks for your help.

I would say a bank transfer is the best way to do it if you do not have a credit card, but make sure you ask for the swift code and their full account number. If you do have a credit card it will be cheaper, but I do not know the total cost, I guess it will be around 拢5.

You can post it, but you take a risk here, if you take it to the post office you can send up to 拢250 by insured post, but make sure you put it in a bubble bag with a cardboard insert.
But I would say that if you are going to use this method it is not the best way to make sure of your booking, I would stick to 1st bank transfer and 2nd credit card.

I used to do this all the time when I was working and living in the UK sending money to Poland and never had a problem.

One thing though, make sure you keep the receipt because in the unlikely event that it is lost then you need the receipt to claim back the money.

As to payment it would be better to make it in Polish zloty and as this is a deposit and a small amount you will not lose much on the transaction, maybe one pound at the most.

P.S. Did you choose Ko艣cielisko and when are you going? I will be down there in January with my family, so maybe we can meet up for a beer and I will show you all the best places :O)

Paypal

On a credit card. Everything covered then if something went wrong.

Use your bank to send an overseas transfer by 'swift' with the 拢8 charge to your account they will give you a better exchange rate than you would get from a travel agent etc

Your bank branch will help you fill in the transfer form

Do not use a credit card and do not send cash

Use Western Union Money Transfer

www.westernunion.com

I would agree with ukpolska as I booked my skiing hols in Poland last year through the bank and it was quite easy and didn't cost much.

gimmett (give me it)

send it via wester union money transfer or send a personal check

Pop to your local Post Office!!! They offer free, secure foreign money transfers!
