Is Playa del carman safe for american tourists? and what type of women's swimwear do you expect to see there

spouse is reluctant to go there cuz of crime and such and is there topless sunbathing at the beach, plz contact me if you have been there and no any of this for sure

is there anyone on earth that does not know what i mean by american tourist? i fought in nam punk when you were still just a twinkle in your pappy's eye... i earned the right to call myself american, meaning good old uncle sam, usa, apple pie and all of that ... i do not need a geography lesson or a spelling lesson... your daddy should have done us all a favor and used protection and prevented a little smart a**ed punk like you from even existing......TONO....now take your teddy bear and kiss mommy goodnight

Playa del Carmen is pretty safe and full of American tourists. I have been there multiple times and haven't heard of any mayor crime issues. Small crime happens everywhere.

As for sunbathing. Yes, there are people sunbathing topless. You have to decide for yourself if you want to do this. Expect saturdays at the beach to be crowded with Mexican workers looking at western girls in bathingsuits (or without). You're in a different country, different culture. If you behave and dress properly you will not find any problems. There are many tourists at Playa and you can pretty much wear anything you like.

goodness!! absolutely!! playa del carman is a major tourist town. it's beaches are all tourist friendly. there may be a topless beach tucked way back somewhere, but not in the main part of town. any type of swimwear you're comfortable in is fine. the young girls will be in bikini's and the older women in 1 pieces's. the ferry to cozumel goes from playa so a lot of ppl from cancun and the riviera maya come through playa. There are loads of places to shop for all kinds of trinkets and never pay what is listed... bargaining is the way to go (just like garage sales!!!) many places are relatively close to playa to explore. Tulum, Xel-ha, Xcaret. Go zip-lining at Selvatica.. SOOOO much fun.

I went last spring. Beautiful waters! Unfortunately (ha ha) only a very few girls were topless. I maybe saw 3 the entire week.

American tourists? What part of America? Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Peru, Brasil, Guatemala, Canada?
America is a continent, not a country.
By the way, it is Playa del Carmen, not carman.
