Where's a good place to stay in Playa Del Carmen?

I'm going to Playa in May and have a couple of places I'm thinking about and need some help! I like the Viva Wyndham Azteca or the Occidental Allegro. I want to stay in all inclusive at a moderate price. I'd also like to be close to town. Any suggestions?

We went to the Sandos Gala. It was spectacular. It is a 4-5 star resort and all inclusive. It is right on the beach and you can just walk to small towns with little shops and resturants. They have great food, and pools. They have a buffett, italian resturant, mediteranian and mexicain resturant. The beach is beautiful and the people are very nice. Every night they have cool entertainment. Every few days the bring a new animal on to the beach and you can take pictures with it. Also you can take a small taxi ride to abigger places where you can go shopping. Over All me and my family LOVED it!!!!

I have stayed at the Allegro and found it was a great experience; groovy beaches, the food was good.

There is a NEW place nearby in Tulum called the CATALONIA; all inclusive resport. As it is brand new I cannot recommend it as I have never been thee, yet,,,,IF I were going back soon I would go to Catalonia. Always fun to try new things. The weather is 82 f there now. Tulum is minutes from Playa DC.
