I'm going to Cancun then to Playa Del Carmen, restaurant choices?

I'm not going all inclusive so help me out with your favourites

Well in Cancun

The Taco Factory is awesome for lunch / snacks , The Argentian Steak house is great for dinner, La Destilleria is also popular, and Bubba Gump and Senior Frogs also has great food, My place is a popular hang out, and if you want something like Pizza etc they do have a Pizza Hut. Try an evening cruise for lobster and steak they have a few, Cancun Queen, Fishing Party, Lobster Dinner Cruise, Pirate Cruise , Captain Hook.

Playa

As I said in my last post Yaxche is great for authentic Mayan food, Los aluxes has a nice rooftop patio and has yummy ribs, John Grays place is also very tasty, and of course Esparragos for their shish kabobs. If you get the chance try fish taco's their really good.

In Cancun, there is Carlos & Charlies, also try Captains Cove and Lorenzillo's. If you want American, they have everything from Denny's to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, and most everything in-between. Pizza Hut will deliever to your hotel.

Check out Pericos it's sorta off the beaten path, but really cool. Your hotel should know where it is.

My bf says the Dominos by the gay bar is awesome. I do agree that they do something different with pizza in Mexico that makes it taste better. He advises staying away from the Burger King in the mall... geez maybe I shouldnt take him to Mexico anymore!!

In Playa be sure to have lunch or dinner at Shanghai Restaurant. The owners used to have a smaller Chinese Rest. in Belize & I convinced them to move to Playa about 10 yrs ago. U will really enjoy your meal . . .

In Playa here are some places to get a good meal (not sure what kind of budget you are on):
La Parilla which is right in the heart of downtown on 5th Ave; the fanciest of my three choices and is a decent place to people watch on 5th Avenue depending on where you sit.
Siesta Fiesta Hotel on 5th Ave, a small hotel with good food and, if you like music (mostly 70's-90's rock) a good place to hang out and watch the bands and people watch.
Tango Taco on 10th Ave and 10th Calle is a "hole in the wall" with strange hours (more for dinner than lunch) and it doesn't look too impressive by its appearance (but the food is really good and interesting); it's a combination Mexican/Argentinian restaurant and kind of hard to describe.
