Does anyone know of some bars in Playa Del Carmen that are American friendly?

We are going to Mexico soon and would like to go out on the town in Playa, but want to be safe. We have been to the Tequila Barrel and it was nice. Anything else on that main strip? I think it is 8th street or something like that.

I think you are talking about 5th Avenue, the whole town kind of spreads out along and around 5th.

Most of the bars is PdC are very American friendly. The best choices of course is you are looking for safety and the ease of communication are the bars that are attached or inside the Hotels.

But I would highly recommend getting out and trying a bit of the local flavor, after all isn鈥檛 that what we take trips to exotic places for?

La Ranita - The Little Frog -
Is where the locals hang out> it's such a warm and friendly place, the place should definitely be at the top of your list.
10th Street between 5th and 10th Avenues

Carboncitos
Awesome place with the coldest beer, I don't know how they do it but on a hot day their beer is the best. They have great food and views too.
4th Street between 5th and 10th Avenue

Kitxen
Is a really modern place and pretty good to eat, drink and people watch.
5th Avenue between Constituyentes and 20th Street

Las Ma帽anitas
Awesome restaurant if you love Mexican, Italian or Fish. Their menu is huge and the food is WONDERFUL.
5th Avenue between 4th and 6th Street

La Cueva del Chango
Is a little out of the way but the food, friendly staff and decoration is definitely worth the effort. You feel like you are out in the jungle somewhere. It really is breathtaking.
38th Street between 5th Avenue and the Sea

Be careful of the 8th street Latinas.

There is a Senor Frogs there. Most of the bars in Playa Del Carmen are American Friendly. I spent a week in that area last summer on my honeymoon
