Weather in Playa del Carmen, Mexico end of October?

I plan on spending a week in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, leaving October 21, 2006. I'm also planning on spending a day in Cozumel, getting there via the ferry. The rates are great because it's the rainy season. I was there once in August and found it very uncomfortable there. It only rained once, but on the whole the humidity was high and we had to spray ourselves with Off repellent at night because of the mosquitos. I love Playa del Carmen. So is going there the end of Oct. safe from hurricanes?

Safe is a very relative term. The Mexican Government and some of the hotels (Mayan Rivera) did a much better job of organizing and help tourist than FEMA did before and days after MSY was struck.

The development along the Rivera you will find the hotels them selves are built not next to the beaches and are not high rises like they are in Cancun. The Mexican Government required hotels to be built back from the beaches and limited build heights due to hurricanes.
There are some hotels that stock emergency supplies in the case of some natural disaster. Planning and asking questions are the way to go. So ask and plan and go!

Seek a fortune teller..October,it must be very extensive forecast..

DEFINITELY NOT SAFE. They say this year is the worst for hurricaines. I got married last October and we went to Riviera Maya (right next to Cozumel). We got caught in hurricaine WILMA. We will NEVER travel during hurricaine season again, it was the single worst experience ever!
