What do I need to do to apply for a passport?

Going to Playa del Carmen, Mexico for the first time in August. Never ventured outside of the United States. Can I do this online?

You can't apply for a passport online. Go to your state's website and they should tell you which bueracratic agency deals with passports. You will then have to bring your birth certificate, driver's license, and several other forms of identification to that office along with a passport photo of yourself (I got mine taken at Sears). They will have you fill out paperwork and in 4-6 weeks you should have a passport. Since you are going in August, you really should do all this now. Good luck!

Yea, you need to go to your local Gov't center. They take down your information and ID. You should do it soon pending your time of trip. Usually takes 2-3 weeks to process.

P.S. You may even be able to get it at your local post office. I got mine done there.

i would go to the court house and ask they can point u in the direction to apply for passport.

You need to go to a federal,state or probate court,post office or
county office with two photos of yourself,proof of citizenship and a valid form of photo i.d.It takes a few weeks to get it if I remember right. Try www.travel.state.gov for more info.

You only need a passport to come back in legally into the USA... Just fallow the long line of illegals into California.... you'll be home free. That's assuming you ever make it back! Seriously, consult your immigration office before departure.......
