What to do in Arizona? |
This July i am going to phoenix for the 3rd or 4th time....any suggestions on wat to do....i have been to the grand canyon at least 2 times and sedona a lot so i need more to do...any suggestions? Between Phoenix and Sedona is the Southwest's first Territorial Capital -- Prescott. This town is rich with history, a town square surrounded by antique stores, quaint eateries and the famous "Whiskey Row" where old cowboys such as Doc Holliday, The Earp Brothers, Daltons, Etc, used to ride in on horseback to gamble and see the girls. Almost each block has a bronzed plaque telling the tourist what happened on that particular block and what it looked like then. Take a stroll around the Courthouse Square (downtown) with a cone of your favorite TCBY (across the street), bring the dog, the kids, etc. Summertime is particularly fun in Prescott, we have a lot of activities going on, arts and craft shows around the square, music, the Worlds Oldest Rodeo (first week in July through July 5 or 6). Hotels/Motels are fairly reasonable, but check around on the internet...you may want to stay at one of the haunted ones--those are fun!! Or camp along a mountain stream. Take 2 or 3 days and REALLY enjoy the cool climate, mountains, history and our good old-fashioned townfolk. "Everyones Hometown"........ london bridge...other wise nothing...but drive to vegas Depends. If you can take the heat, and like wilderness, there are lots of hiking areas around Phoenix. Tempe town lake has one heck of a fireworks show. You could hike one of our many trails and mountains in the area. There are a lot of places to go shopping. ohhh...go to tombstone or old tucson studios. those places are craploads of fun. i also remember once a few years ago for a history class trip we went to bisbee to tour a mine. there's also the sonoran desert museum. but if it's going to be july wear sunblock, a hat, and bring lots of water because most of these places are outdoors. Go hiking. Camelback Mountain is awesome. It's a good workout, it's relatively quick and it has an amazing view from the top. Where else can you hike to the top of a mountain in the middle of the city? Be sure to take plenty of water! http://maps.google.com/maps?q=the+domes&... Lake Havasu!! Go to the Verde River east of Apache Jct. and go tubing. See the Zoo. Cruise central. Go to the mountains to get cool. Go to the CASINOS!!!! They are fun!!! For starters, you better bring a bucket of sunscreen. July is brutal in Arizona. If you can park yourself near a pool, I'd recommend that. There really isn't a whole lot to do in the Phoenix area. It's a wannabe city. In my 8 years here, besides the Grand Canyon, we haven't really found anything of true interest to do. Sorry. Scottsdale(Paradise Valley) You could go to Big Surf, Sun Splash, Tuscon ( Karchner Cavern) , to the Meteor Crater, the Four Corners, Rawhide, train rides to the grand canyon, hike Camelback Mountain or other moutains, go to Castles N' Coasters, Fiddlesticks, South Pointe Hilton at Squaw Peak, or JW Marriot at Dessert Ridge.... |

Sorry, It's not going to happen in Phoenix. There is a Castles and Coasters which is a very small and I mean very small amusement park. Has miniature golf there also. Nearest amusement park... I don't think you get that in Phoenix, I guess it will depend on your background. Good Luck, and happy hunting. ...Saguaro National Monument and practically any Tex-Mex restaurant. Some of those cacti are towering!! Now I'm craving a lime margarita like no one's business.... ...I have never been. Call the clubs to get the pricing. ...ASU is a party school there is always something going on. Go to Mill ave and see what happens. ...You realize you posted this in the Phoenix section right? ...Nope. ...Grand Canyon Village is in the 86023 zip code. Obviously there is no address of the Grand Canyon itself. The most popular hotel in Grand Canyon Village is El Tovar which is right on the rim. El Tov... |
