Where to play in the snow in arizona? |
I'm in tempe, i dont want to go all the way to flagstaff or tucson. Is there snow in Payson? I just want to play around in it, maybe sled a little, and most of all see my dogs reaction Thanks for the answers. We actually went to the Mogollon rim (30 minutes north of Payson) there was a lot of snow, about three-four feet in areas. Great for sledding and letting the dog play. Never would've guessed there would be that much snow outside of the obvious ski areas in arizona. Yes they got snow in Payson yesterday it maybe gone by now. Flagstaff is the way to go they have more than their far share of snow this year. Sorry- but Flag & Tuscon are your only options. Thats what you get for living in Arizona! Both about two hours drive, try Lemon Mt. in Tuscon or Snowbowl in Flagstaff. I personally recommend Flag. Once you are on top of the San Fran Peaks you can enjoy the best forest and sunset over polluted California (smog makes sunsets BEAUTIFUL). Prescott or Flagstaff. I live in mesa and we drove to flagstaff last weekend because i also didnt know where it would be snowing or i should say where there would be snow. It only took 2 1/2 hours and we went to wing mountain close to snowbowl, there was alot of people sleding ang just playing in the snow, the road was real bumpy and kinda hard on the car and they charge 10 dollars but it was fun and we drove through sedona and took hwy 89 it was the most beautiful drive, but takes longer than if u just stayed on I-17. if you want the snow flagstaff is where you go Go to Williams! There's so much snow there! I'm 5 foot 9 and it was up to my waist I was going to suggest the Payson area before I read your response. We were coming back from Sedona yesterday via 260. At the intersection of 87 South/260 East was a HUGE pull-off of sledding, dogs, kids, & adults having a field day in the snow! Of course we pulled over to play too. This was about 20 miles North of Payson. |
