I need your help...?

What do you know about living in Phoenix? I am planning on moving to Phoenix by the end of the year, so I wonder what life would be there and what to expect?

Thanks in advance.

I mean jobs, schools, and real estate.

The is a huge amount of jobs out here, the housing market is bad right now, schools are great. I have ben out here for 18 years and will never leave.

My grandparents live in Arizona, and they tell me its sweltering in the summer but they rest of the year its pretty nice, now if your talking people, I couldn't tell you, I would assume that they are just like any other big city......

I don't know what you do for a living, but if you check out Craig's List there are tons of jobs available in the area. If you are a teacher you can be guaranteed of a job. This city is growing by leaps and bounds and it has beautiful homes, great schools and fun things to do. Yes it is HOT in the summer, just like it COLD where other people live in the winter. We just spend our summers in A/C's areas like cold weather people spend their winters in heated spaces. Almost every home has a pool in the back yard and our zoo, the mountains and so many other wonderful things to offer. The people here are nice, I've lived here 22 years and people open doors for you, they are the most generous of people when something bad happens...it is a mixed community of all ethnicity and a wonderful place to live. If you have any specific questions, just email me.

First, where are you from? I am from New York but have lived in Arizona (metro Phoenix area) for the last 9 years. The only reason I am here is because of my husband's job. We are now in the process if high tailing it out of here to go back east. The weather is beautiful most of the time but the summers are brutal. Culturally, it is an abyss! Not a whole lot going on here...other than the ongoing debate about illegal immigration. Phoenix likes to think it's a big city but they are so far behind - no real public transportation (buses are limited and they are in the process of messing up all the roads downtown to put in this ridiculous "light rail"). There are no true restaurants - the majority of them are chains. There are many more...just do a little research.

Real estate prices have gone up, though they are still better than New York, California, Florida. Keep in mind salaries are generally lower because most employers still go by the myth that it's cheaper to live here, therefore, salaries are not that competitive. Arizona has been consistently ranked in the bottom 5 out of the 50 states for their public education. Last year they were dead last. Arizona also has the distinction of being the "dumbest state" for 2005 and 2006 and 2007. Just google it and you'll see. Mega churches are everywhere. Private schools are few and far between (I drive my son 35 miles each way to get to private Catholic school because the Dysart school district that I live in is one of the worst of the worst....that comes from a teacher friend of mine who quit the profession after teaching here.)

Other than the weather and the Grand Canyon, Arizona doesn't offer much. Perhaps you should try New Mexico...I hear it's just as beautiful but it has a better infrastructure and better houses and schools.

Good luck to you!

It's got its advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are the job growth, relatively affordable housing, interesting scenery, beautiful sunsets and warm winters.

The disadvantages are sprawl, lack of public transport, heat in the summer, and less cultural options than most cities its size (though to be fair, that's improving rapidly.)

which country is Phoenix in?

Tremble you weaklings,cower in fear
I am your ruler, land, sea and air
Immense in my girth, erect I stand tall
I am a nuclear murderer I am polaris
Ready to pounce at the touch of a button
My system locked in on military gluttons
I rule on land, air and sea
Pass judgement on humanity
Winds blow from the bowels of hell
Will we give warning, only time will tell
Satan rears his ugly head,to spit into the wind
I spread disease like a dog
Discharge my payload a mile high
Rotten egg air of death wrestles your nostrils
Launch the polaris, the end doesnt scare us
When will this cease
The warheads will all rust in peace
Bomb shelters filled to the brim
Survival such a silly whim
World leaders sell missiles cheap
Your stomach turns,your flesh creeps

High priest of holocaust, fire from the sea
Nuclear winter spreading disease
The day of final conflict
All pay the price
The third world war
Rapes peace,takes life
Back to the start, talk of the part
When the earth was cold as ice
Total dismay as the sun passed away
And the days where black as night

Eradication of earths
Population loves polaris
