Looking to move around Chandler Arizona...thoughts? Recommendations?

We are life long residents of Cleveland, Ohio and are very seriously thinking about moving to Arizona. We like the Chandler area. We have a 6 year old and are planning to have more children so schools, community, low crime rates, cost of living, etc. would be important. Any suggestions or comments welcome!

I love Chandler it is a beautiful growing city. I also love Awatukee, it is on the west side of the I-10 and Chandler is on the East side of the I-10. From about Alma School RD going west on Chandler Blvd through Chandler and Awatukee is a nice beautiful area to live. Also the same from Alma School RD going west on Ray Rd is also very nice. Just about any area from Alma School Rd going west on any of the streets in chandler is very nice.

(Alma School runs North and South. I am using that as a cross road reference)

If I worked in Chandler or near Chandler I would move back, but right now I work in Scottsdale so I'm stuck where I'm at. Good luck and Chandler is a good choice.

Cost of living and low crime rate.Bettet not move to arizona.Besides hot ,dusty, chandler used to be the slum area when i lived there.I would look around before i moved.Stay more central or east.Exspensive west.

Chandler is not a slum. There are older, down-trodden areas, especially near its Downtown (Chandler Blvd @ Arizona Ave), but most of it is typical Phoenix metro: sprawling tract home communities, fake grass and strip malls. And even those areas are being taken over by higher-end housing.
The Ocotillo neighborhood is beautiful, if you can afford it. I would mainly concentrate on the schools and specific homes though, as most of Chandler is about the same for crime and convenience to Phoenix.

my aunt and uncle live in chandler and it's a great area

Around the Chanlder BLVD and McClintock road is a great area.

we live in east mesa,we moved here 7 months ago.where we live it in gilbert school district and i guess thats supposed to be a good thing,i dont have kids that go to school but thats always like a selling point on houses that its in a gilbert school district. The communithy where we are seems really nice and the schools are with in walking distance,we live in a newer housing sub division and close to shopping and 202 freeway and the 60 freeway also we are renting 3 bedroom house at 1050 a month,if we buy a house here, cause we may be moving to Idaho this summer but if not then we would like to get a house in gilbert or queen creek, which is same area as chandler. It is nasty HOT here in the summer and im hoping we get to move to Idaho, all depends on husbands job.

You will want to move to West Chandler or maybe even very South Tempe. The Kyrene School District is VERY good, ESPECIALLY the elementary schools, which here are K-5. There are many gated communities in that part of Chandler, but there are more in South Tempe. Good luck!
