Is it safe for a 18 year old still in high school to walk around Chandler alone?

I'm visiting my aunt and uncle that live in Chandler Arizona during February vacation and I'm from Maine. [I'll be moving there when I graduate in June] I wanted to know if it was safe to walk around by yourself since some parts of the Phoenix metro are dangerous and have gangs and what not? Are there any malls within walking distance?

Ive visited them 2 years ago when they lived in Mesa and I walked up and down the road an nothing bad happened to me.

Chandler is a great area in parts. Other parts are bad I would even walk alone in the downtown Chandler area. The mall in Chandler is on the Loop 101 and Chandler BLVD so if they live close to that then it is in walk distance if they don't then it isn't.

Come on, your 18 years old, no body is going to be holding your hand the rest of your life, you have to go out and explore life for your self! Its good for you!

And besides, as long as you stay away from trouble, you wont get in any!

It should be safe, but if you can t bring yourself to buy into it, buy some pepper spray.

Chandler is perfectly safe. It's Mayberry compared to some parts of Central Phoenix.
