How do people put up with the Arizona heat in the summer?

Tube the river, go to one of our four water parks. Sit inside in the A/C, Go swimming.

dude we swim. what else do u think we do. AZ is the best man!

Probably Air conditioning..I know that is how we deal with it in Bakersfield. i have an aunt that lives out there and another in the Imperial Valley. Sometimes they can not even come outside.

air conditioning and swimming are pretty much are the main ways to stay cool

well we just got used to it. but there are pools to cool down yourself, and its enjoyable.

6 to 12 glasses a water a day. Stay inside in the air condition. Or swimming thats the bomb

just like you with the snow in winter you learn to deal with it

Try to avoid going out during the hottest parts of the day-do your shopping/errands very early morning, or in the evenings when the sun is starting to go down

Stay hydrated! Drink tons of water during the hot summers

Go swimming

Indoor activities: movies, malls, roller skating/ice skating (yes, it sounds so weird to say ice skating when it is 110 degrees outside-but there are several ice rinks around!)

If you happen to work outdoors, you'll need to use a lot of sunscreen, a wide brimmed hat, lots of water (worth repeating), a short break every now and then to rest so you don't suffer from heat stroke/heat exhaustion

And finally-common sense-if it is too hot for you personally, then stay indoors! Some people withstand the heat better than others.

That would be Air conditioning in our homes, our offices, our cars and in the shopping centers. We also stay inside just like you do in the winter time...I know I grew up in 20 below...we didn't do much!

We deal with it by staying indoors with the A/C on, or outside swimming.

We get this question a lot on here. I could ask how do people up north put up with below freezing temperatures for months at a time? Wind and snow and ice and junk like that is the reason I live where it is warm. It's nothing to deal with 3 months of hot for 9 months of awesome weather.

I don't do cold. Cold sucks way more than heat.

We try our hardest to stay inside until night time. Then we all come out like vampires!! Born and raised here and I will never get used to it, it's miserable and depressing!! :)

That's a good question. And for it, you get a star. I have lived
there three times. And have moved back up north each time
due to fantacizing about the beach and heavy rain, during
the long hot summers. You learn to live like a mole during
April through mid October. I developed heat stroke the last
two times I lived there. You don't have much warning when it
hits. You do all of your errand running in the mornings when
it is the cooler part of the day. Evenings are for barbequing
so you don't heat up the inside of where you live with the
humidity that lingers. It used to be a dry heat, but with all of
the irrigation and swimming pools and the monsoons when
they arrive, you sweat from 8:30 in the morning if you're outside and you can't stay out past 10:00 AM or you really
feel miserable and need a cold shower. You hibernate during
the day. Naps are rituals to maintain energy levels. Swimming
is either early morning, or later at night. By then the water is
warm like bath water, and isn't refreshing. The best areas to
live are not in the valley where Phoenix and Tempe, etc are.
Moving north where Prescott is or Flagstaff are more temp-
ered and have regular climate seasons. People move to
Phoenix for the heat if they like it, and for finding jobs. Most
people leave during the summers and they are called, Snow-
birds. They leave around Easter and return in late October.
They live the rest of the year in cool climates which turn cold
during fall and winter. They live the ideal life, being able to
move back and forth each year.

Air Conditioning, Shade, and Swimming along with plenty of trips out of the city!

or they just come to oregon where its likeee perfect weather during the summer.
then go back during the fall/winter/spring.
spring in arizona is basically kinda how oregon is in the summer.

Right now, is not hot.
I guess.. they leave on the AC.
&& the people that lives there are use to it.

It's not as humid as like anywhere else so it is not as sticky

I was born in Tucson and I visit every yr or two in the summertime. I LOVE it!! Its a dry heat, so much more bearable than humid summers here in Virginia. It does get bad though.. just stay inside from 11-4. Thats what I'd suggest.

They don't care most of them are so old they think it's cold outside.

most people swim or just stay inside it just really depends if you are a indoor or outdoor person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They start the day in their air-conditioned houses, then get in their air conditioned cars and go to their air-conditioned jobs, then back to their air-conditioned houses. They're like vampires avoiding the sun during the day.
