Inca Trail Question?

I am going to Peru for 10 days. Will be in Lima, Cuzco, and Machu Picchu. I will be backpacking and camping on the Inca Trail. What should I bring with me? I'll be going in late march to early April. How cold does it get at that altitude? How wet will it be then. I will have a porter. How light should I travel?

Travel light and bring pills for altitude sickness or smell alcohol, eat lemon candy or drink mate tea

I don't know - but I want come with you! (: Actually I am doing the same trip in June but I can't wait to go!! From what I understand about April though - you might have some serious rain mixed with serious sunshine- so it may be hard to pack light. Good luck to you!!

Hi

The raining season will just be ending but bring rain gear.
It gets cold camping at night some make sure to bring long underwear, a toque, mitts to sleep in.
Pay extra and get a thermarest to sleep on if you can.

also.. take the cusco one day tour and the scared valley tour if you can.

10 days only ?? , i think is too short :),, but anyway :)... some people feels a little bit sick for be on 3500 msnm, .....and for the inka trail,,, if u will got ur personal porter,, then,, he will carry all u order:),, until 20k or 30k,, i dont remember... so just u will wallk with the clothes u wear :)......... , take a pair of water s bottle,, and something against the mosquitos, for the 3th and 4th day :)........ wet ??,, just if rain ::),, but look,, when u are there in AGUAS CALIENTES, then before to start the trecking,, ur guide will say u all u will need :),, then u can buy in this little town :),, aguas calientes :).........good luck :)

Lucky man! First, don't go alone. Take with you flashlight, sleepbag, light hat, not too much cloth. Don't walk fast! March to April is good. Weather is nice. Drink coca mate (drink prepared with coca leaves) You'll enjoy and never forget this trip! But....be prudent! I tell you this because I'am Peruvian-Canadian born in Cuzco, so I speak Quechua); now working in China.

travel very light and leave all your valuables and nice clothes at home, (yes i mean that watch and shoes) , there's a lot of pickpocketing and robberies, so travel with a local always, macchu picchu is pretty high so expect to get sisk on the first day, till you get aclimated to the altitude, it gets very cold at night and hot during the day, layering is a must. it might rain at any time so have your plastic poncho ready.
