Does a Eurail Pass include Paris Metro (subway0?

I wanted to buy a Eurail Pass that included France, Benelux & Switz. Do you know if you can use the pass for free travel on the metro/subway systems in Amsterdam and Paris?

No it doesn't include the Metro. However, when you're in Paris you can get a carnet (a book of 10 tickets) to use on the public transportation system (Metro, bus, and RER within the city). If you time it correctly, and are staying for nearly a week, then you might want to buy a Carte Orange instead. It will give you unlimited use of the Metro and bus for a week. The catch is that you have to buy it on Mon, Tues, or Wed for the current week, which ends Sunday.

I think it only covers the continental railroad system. Local rails are additional I believe.

No it does not include the Metro.

And a bit of free advice. You should layout a detailed itinerary and then check the actual costs of traveling that itinerary, making sure to explore all the possible means of transportation including low cost air carriers and Eurolines bus fares before simply blindly buying a Eurail pass.

Generally speaking, there is no sensible itinerary which makes the Eurail pass a wise purchase.

No, you can't. It doesn't include the Metrocard, sorry. I thought that it might too, but it turns out it doesn't = ( although it would have been very handy.
