Do you think I need a reservation if I want to stay in a Paris Hostel?

I am traveling to Paris 12-14 2009. I want to stay in a cheap hostel....do you think I need reservations or just show up?

Well, I have to add - I dont have a very strict schedule so I was hoping to "roam" more than have to show up for a reserved room. Obviously if I knew the exact dates and times of my arrival I would make a reservation since that would be "not foolish" but I am hoping to not have to make a reservation so I can choose to stay longer in Nimes or Marseille if I want to and get to Paris when I get there.....

So, again, does anyone know if there is really a need to reserve because they run out of beds or if it is pretty vacant in Feb.

Well, to be on the safe side, I would make reservations over the internet, just in case there are no rooms left and you're left stranded in Paris with no where to sleep!

http://www.hostelworld.com/hostels/Paris... --> Here is a link to a website with plenty of hostels in Paris for you to choose from. Some of them are great value for money and of good quality.

There may be cancellations though, so you could stay longer if you wished. I would make reservations to be safe, and then try and find somewhere with a vacancy if you wish to stay longer .

Usually there would be vacancies in February, as there aren't many tourists here.

Good luck, or should I say, bonne chance!

Merci for picking me as best answer! You'll have a great time in Paris! xx Report It

Since you can make reservations over the internet it would be foolish to not to do so.

travelling in December should not be an issue. If summer yes a problem. Worst case you can go to the Latin quarter and find a cheap room.
