What things must you do or see in paris?

What things must you do or see in paris?

Ah, Paris...

Everyone answering before me is absolutely correct. You must see the amazing sites that Paris is known for. But I would also suggest some simple pleasures:

If you can, walk and walk and walk some more - through the Montmartre, along the Seine, in the neighborhoods on the Left and Right Banks. Smell the butter aroma wafting out of bakeries in the early morning. Eat from smaller French restaurants. (Yes, there are a lot of McDonald's and Starbucks - stay away from them.) Sit outside awhile, whether its a bench or a cafe table, and watch the passing scene. When you enter a store, ALWAYS greet the shopkeeper (Bonjour, Madame.) Learn a few necessary words in French ("please" "thank you"). Dress a little more conservatively than you do in America - the French will respect you if you look like you respect yourself. And always, always be polite; this will guarantee you are treated with kindness. People around the world respond well to a gentleman.

Bon voyage, I know you will have a magnificent trip.

ifel tower

def the louvre

Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, Champs Elysees(sp?)

Versilles chateau -- it is amazing to an old palace like that and the grounds are incredible.

The louvre is closed on Sundays so book to go there on a different day.

There is a discount package you can buy to give you a cheaper price for ALL admissions and you often don't have to wait in line as long as well. (louvre, Orsay, etc.)

Eiffel Tower, Notre-dame, Le Louvre Museum

definately go to the louvre, the eiffel tower, and notre dame cathedral. if youre going in the summer the louvre isnt air conditioned in all the rooms and sometimes it smells like b.o. which is nasty. so just keep that in mind. another good museum is the musee d'orsay features more "comtempory" artists of the 19th and 20th century, which can be more interesting. if you like seriously contempory artwork go to the centre pompidou, which is one of the most forword looking buildings in the entire city. the eiffel tower is probably best at night. also consider going up to the top of the the arc de triomphe (on the champs elysees). its underadvertised in paris, but the view is stunning, since you can see all the big streets in paris converging below you. also go to sacre coeur and explore the surrounding area, monmartre.

Don't miss a walk in the Latin Quarter or the ancient churches there.
