What can you tell me about the Latin Quarter in Paris.? |
I will be staying there in May. Cafes? Shops? Restaurants? What are the sites not to be missed? The term "Latin Quarter" usually refers to the 5th arondissement on the Left or south bank of the Seine. nothing What number (arrond.) are you staying in? I stayed in the Marais area near Centre Pompidou recently and loved it. I could walk everywhere.... The one thing that I can stress is that you should not miss a nice long stroll through the Luxembourg Gardens. In May, it will be incredible. Also, the Palais Royal (across from the Louvre) will be lovely. Remember that the Louvre will be on the opposite side of the river from where you're staying... I stayed (many years ago) in the Quartier Latin. Lovely! Lots of caf茅s, restaurants...Right across the river from Notre Dame. I stayed right across the street from the Lyc茅e du Sorbonne (I never have figured out if that was THE Sorbonne or a prep school...no one was around...it was vacation). Lots of students in the area. Lots of schools and a very student-y atmosphere. I loved it. But then, I was in Paris. Who wouldn't? Check for a little bar called the Quasimodo. I think it was actually in the 脦le de la Cit茅, right across the Place from the Cathedral. It is very beautiful It is actually very beautiful. It is also accessible to many places around Paris because of its central location. It is the center of all tourists at night. It has great bars and restaurants that offer menu's (3 course dinners for a set price!!!) The Louvre is just up the Seine River. It is actually very accessible from many metro locations. The Latin Quarter has the best book stores in town. Enjoy your trip |
