I'm hoping to go to Paris over Valentine's Day does anybody have any hotel/restaurant advice?

I'm hoping to go for 3-4 days from the UK and looking to spend about 拢500 between 2 of us on flights and accomodation. I'm looking to spend up to 拢150 for Valentine's Day dinner.

A suggestion for Valentine's Dinner? The Jules Verne in the Eiffel Tower. Beautiful, fixed prix.

make sure you don't have to share a bathroom, and they don't always offer free breakfast so if they ask if you want it ask if there is a charge.

We were in Paris over New Years last year, and stayed in a nice hotel called le grand hotel francais...it was nice, the people were very friendly. The price was nice, I would recommend it.

We ate all over, but I really recall one place called the dancing snake, le serpent qui danse, and it was a really nice atmosphere. The little old guy that owns it was very sweet, and was so nice to us, explained everything very slowly for me and made sure to tell me how happy he was to finally meet americans who were willing to try real french food and not just chicken. It was quiet, dimly lighted, but in a good way, and the food was delicious. Let me go look up which metro stop...it was definitely one stop from plaza de nation, I guess it was rue de boulet...that麓s right next to this hotel, and the restaurant is one street across from the hotel, on the parallel street. The restaurant isn麓t too expensive, I think about 25-35 E a plate...but it was delicious. Good luck in whatever you decide!

An inexpensive tourist class hotel: Hotel Magendie in the 13th, very close to 3 metro stops and a main road. It should cost about $90 USD per night. The rooms are small, but one typically doesn't travel just to spend all the time in the room, right?

Eating places:
1) Les Canons des Gobelins (outside Goblelins metro stop, and walking distance from the hotel mentioned above) --great for lunch (try the Panini Rome)

2) L'alouette (walking distance from the hotel, down rue de la Glaciere) -- entrecote was very tasty

3) Les philosophes (in the Marais) -- best meal I ate on my first trip to Paris - lamb chops with French green beans

4) Le tresor (in the Marias, across the courtyard from Les philosophes) -- good steak, great atmosphere.

On another trip, I ate with a Parisian friend at a restaurant at the east end of rue de Turbigo. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of it right now. If I recall the name, I will edit this answer.

I've also eaten at a couple of places along rue Mouffetard that were really good, but again, I don't know the names (sorry!). The only bad meal I've had in Paris (in 4 trips, totalling about 35 days) was at the pizzeria across from the IAE on rue Broca. However, one of my friends liked it enough that she ate there three times during our two-week stay!

Gare de Lyon, a train station located southeast of Place de la Bastille has an opulent and pricey restaurant called Le Train Bleu. See pic below:

Inside the restaurant the atmosphere is similar to being in one of the French Palaces.

I do believe you could find a way to use L150 at this place! Perhaps even a little more!

Hotel saint Christophe (http://www.charm-hotel-paris.com)
Is very close to place monge (where you fin an undergroung Station) and the latin quartier that is very beauriful and full of restaurant (with accettable prices)
The hotel is very rom romantic with kind staff

The Mercure Branch is excellent. I stayed at Mercure Terminus Est. It was beautiful. It was a little outside the city, but it was nice. Try a dinner cruise on the Seine with Beatoux Parisian. Hurry up and book quickly, before the dinner cruises are full!!!

Enjoy your "Oh So Romantic" Valentines Day
